Antivirus software, firewall software, anticrash software, or other applications and services that are typically loaded when Windows starts can interfere with installation. You can temporarily disable non-essential startup items and services by using the Windows System Configuration Utility.

To disable startup items and services:

Choose Start > Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK.
